[The editor of The CP notes that this is a personal statement, and does not
necessarily represent the views of the Churches' Fellowship of Psychical and Paranormal Studies.]

Recent correspondence in the Christian Parapsychologist and the Fellowship
has highlighted tensions between dogmatic Christians
and free-thinkers, which indicates that perhaps the time has come for a
frank discussion of the main difficulties encountered on both sides of
the argument.

The stance adopted by the late Canon Michael Perry lay somewhere
between open inquiry and orthodoxy. His very engaging account of the
New Age movement,
Gods Within, includes a chapter on Near Death
Experiences that is striking, not just for the author’s comprehensive review
of the evidence but also for his final analysis of it. In fact, as he acknowledges, the NDE is a not-so-new phenomenon which ‘goes back at least to the days of Plato (427-347 BC

2.  Psychic Research and Basic Religion

Psychic research asks questions like: Is there a spiritual world? Is there an
afterlife for each person that lives? What is the afterlife like?  More and more
wonderful and trustworthy books give us an ever clearer picture what to expect
when we pass to the spiritual world.

Basic religion, seen amongst the Christian, Hindu, Buddhist and   Islamic mystics,
does need to be aware of what psychic research has revealed. But basic religion
looks more toward communion in the Whole, mutual love and service within

Many, both within the churches, and outside, heartily wish that the churches
would take to themselves the findings of scientific psychical research, and the
testimony of mystics of all religions, and from the varying pictures of reality
presented in the Scriptures, highlight those parts most in harmony with those
findings and testimonies. In short, we should concentrate on the many
dimensions of love of God and neighbour, and sideline contentious dogmas.

As discussed in my August 22 post, the person in search of
historical  truth relative to mediums and paranormal
phenomena may very well be confused if he or she relies on
Internet references.  In that post, I offered the example of
Leonora Piper, made out to be a “clever charlatan”

Michael Tymn  considers that these are the best
documentaries ever produced. He then quotes
"I was watching a TV documentary in 2008, here in England, that was being sceptical about psychic phenomena,
as usual,” Parsons responded by email when I asked
him what motivated him to produce the video.  “After
it was over, I stormed into the kitchen and declared to my partner something like: ‘They’ve done it again –
rubbishing this subject!’ And she said, ‘Well, what
are you going to do about it?’ And that was a challenge that set me to thinking … "   Read more

6. Psychologist Matthew McKay Discusses Spirit Communication

In his recently released book, Seeking Jordan, Matthew McKay, Ph.D., (below)
details his efforts to connect with and communicate with his son Jordan, who
had been murdered six years earlier, at age 23.  A clinical psychologist and
professor  wat the Wright Institute in Berkeley, Calif., McKay began his journey of discovery  with an introduction to induced after-death communication and
moved on to channeled (automatic) writing and past-life and between-life regressions.  Read more

7. No Ferrari for this Doctor

One of the effects of the near-death experience (NDE)
often reported by experiencers and researchers is a transformation from a materialistic way of life to a
more spiritual one. I have read accounts of scores of such transformations over the past 40 or so years,
but I can’t  recall any that exceeds…

Powerful telescopes have revealed that a nearby galaxy is 99.99 percent dark
matter. That number is a new record and the galaxy’s existence could help us
learn more about the properties of dark matter, which makes up about 27 percent
of the universe but hasn’t been officially detected.

the PCAR quantum communication system used by all life for telepathic,

1Apollo Astronaut, 6th Man to Walk on the Moon This evidence suggests that QH is also a model that describes the basis for consciousness. It explains how living organisms
know and use whatever information they know and utilize. It elevates the role of
information in nature to the same fundamental status as that of matter and energy. We speculate that QH seems to be nature’s built-in vast information storage and retrieval mechanism and one that has been used since the beginning of time. This would
promote QH as a theory which is basis for explaining how the whole of creation learns, self-corrects and evolves as a self-organizing, interconnected holistic system  Read this important article

21 New Zealand Christians in Science
Dear Supporters of NZCIS (and previous supporters of TANSA),
We have very good new! Our application for a grant from the Templeton Foundation
has been successful, to the tune of $US204,000 over three years, for New Zealand
Christians in Science (NZCIS). This was more than we had originally requested.
We are very grateful to Jake Martin who wrote the grant, and to Dr. Graeme Finlay
whose idea it was. Thanks also to all of you for your written support and
encouragement. Jake is now in Cambridge pursuing a PhD in chemical engineering.
NZCIS will be a New Zealand-wide organisation supporting Christians in science,
specially at New Zealand universities, and also theologians and people of faith
who are interested in the issues science raises for faith. We are now incorporated
and registered as a New Zealand Charity. The Trust Deed is available on the NZ
Charities Register. In the new year we will begin planning events and also raising
NZCIS will be chaired by Dr. Graeme Finlay from the Auckland Medical School.
Nicola will be doing the administrative work. The website, built largely by Jake,
will be online soon. A full Board will be formed by the end of year.  We plan to have
launch events, a conference and study/discussion groups during the year. In the
meantime, we would welcome your suggestions and enquiries.
We are entering into a partnership with McLaurin Chapel and Nicola will be
on the campus of Auckland University at least twice a week, working from
the Chapel when she is in Auckland. The work of NZCIS, however, will be nationwide.
Thank you again for all your support. We could not have done this without the
strong support of so many talented New Zealand scientists. We will keep you
updated on our work in the new year.
Please let us know of scientists and science students (or organisations) who
might be interested in this work.

Dr Howard Jones, a scientist from Waleshas  written a detailed review of the book, outlining and evaluating its contents.
  Here is a review
from Prof Steven M. Rosen, a philosopher/psychologist from Vancouver. He is important in some of the synchronicity recorded here.
(June 30.) He concludes, "I thoroughly enjoyed this enchanting book, and recommend it to all readers interested in  the phenomenon of synchronicity."
You can read  a chapter of the book here.

Many years ago there was an unpublished  version of this book, for which   an introduction was written by Mary Rose. former Professor of Philosophy, at Goucher College Baltimore, and President  of the Academy of Spirituality and Consciousness Studies, She began by noting that she and I had been corresponding about synchronicity for ten years. Her preface is an inspiring and helpful review. I much regret  that it was not included in the present book.

Read reviews of Afterlife Teaching by the Rt Rev Edward Holland, former Bishop of Colchester, the Rt. Rev David Coles, former Bishop of Christchurch, Prof. Mary Rose, Prof. Richard Cocks, Victor Zammit,  Michael Tymn, editor of the ASCS Journal,  Physicist Dr John Moss. With regard to Stephen's words in his native Thracian Greek, and their provenance, Prof. Robin Bond and Dr Paul McKechnie of the Depts. of Classics at Canterbury and Auckland NZ, respectively, were consulted. They helped with translation and affirmed they were genuinely of first cent.CE, (They did not study the rest of the text.)  Dr Leo C.W. Hobbis  organised a seminar with several scientist and theologian participants, under the aegis of the AK Scientific and Medical Network.
