What is Love in its many manifestations? Why is it that things go so wrong when we lack it?
The truth is that you and I are participants in an indivisible whole, a Spirit or Mind that is in all, through all and above all... Genesis 1:puts it that we were created in the very "image and likeness"… Read more

Should we believe in Predestination?
Or is there another way to view things?

Let’s consider three types of puzzling phenomena: exceptional case histories to do with identical twins, instinct, and synchronicity.

Firstly some strange stories from various sources about about identical twins separated at birth:

Jim Lewis and Jim Springer:
“When Jim Lewis of Lima, Ohio, was nine years old he learned that he had an identical twin who had been adopted at birth. Thirty years later…he decided to see if he could find him… He soon learned that he was called Jim Springer and lived in Dayton, Ohio. As soon as they met they discovered a string of (impossible) coincidences  Read on

Richard Rohr: Orthodoxy or Orthopraxy?

Franciscan Richard Rohr  writes that it is no use spending energy attacking the Pope, or the entrenched doctrines of the Church. Many words are expended, opposition aroused,  and the result is darkness. We should let them be, but look in another direction: not Orthodoxy, right teaching,…Read more

Retired Naval Architect Tells of His NDE
When Dr. Alan Hugenot (below) had a near-death experience in 1970, it didn’t have a name and he was reluctant to talk about it.  But he now says “the best thing that ever happened to me was when I ‘died’ in a motorcycle wreck.”
It wasn’t until 2006, as he approached retirement from his career as a naval architect and marine engineer, that he began seriously exploring consciousness, including mediumship.  Now, 10 years later, Hugenot is an evidential medium, serving as a test medium for the Consciousness Research Laboratory at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, where he works with Drs. Dean Radin and Arnaud Delorme.  Read more...
Another Look at the Margery “Third Hand” Mystery: Believe It or Not!

A recent segment of the Travel Channel’s “Mysteries at the Museum” series dealt with the “Margery” mediumship, previously discussed in my January 11 blog.  The television presentation is an example of how history is distorted and mediums maligned by biased historians and journalists who know little of the subject.  The program involved cherry-picking, hearsay, distortion of facts, sensationalism, misinformation, and most of all incomplete information  Read more

A President Who Was a Medium

The following words were penned in 1910 by a man about to become president of his country.  However, they seemingly apply just as much, if not more so, to today’s world.  “As for the less evolved spirits who comprise the great majority of the earth’s inhabitants, for the most…Read more

Heaven and Hell Unveiled

Does religion have anything to offer humanity in the 21st century? Many authorities think not. They see religion's tired old dogmas as irrelevant and oppressive. This book unveils a different kind of religion, one that reaches us from the world of spirit. Stafford Betty presents this radically new perspective with great skill and eloquence. Heaven and hell are real states, and the spirits who experience them first hand reveal their true nature, likely to surprise you more than a little! Betty's innovative, provocative, scientifically grounded research will be good news for all seekers. Even earth's religions may take a lesson or two from our spirit friends. If they don't, then the "authorities" may be proved right.

Laurence Temple: The Shining Brother

White Crow Books 2016      Reviewer: Michael Cocks Amazon

St Francis of Assissi aspired to model his life on that of Jesus, having no possessions of his own and devoting his life to the poor and the outcasts of society preaching and modelling a life of love and service. The present Pope Francis aspires to follow in St Francis' footsteps, bypassing pomp and ceremony, and insistence on traditional doctrines, and concentrating on the love and service of God/s children regardless of race or religion. St Francis has always been a loved figure in the church, but now he takes centre stage.

This lovely, and inspiring book, really seems to bring us into the spirit of St Francis as he communicates with his closest confidant Leo, now incarnate in the person of Laurence Temple, an architect whose life's work restoring old, and building new churches. Beautiful and poetic words of love are spoken between them, and it is a privilege to read about it and enter into what was going on. Laurence initially had great difficulty in taking in the reality of what was happening. Numerous and sometimes synchronistic encounters with good mediums, often ignorant of what was being channelled through the others, helped Laurence to trust that he was truly in deepest communion with St Francis, and that he had then been called Leo.

I found this book especially compelling and involving. I felt enriched by the experience.

REVIEW OF STAFFORD BETTY'S NOVEL: The Severed Breast  Amazon   Reviewer: Michael Cocks

Such a gripping story! Thomas, “Doubting Thomas” one of the twelve, had at last seen Jesus and put his hand in his side. He has been spreading the teaching of Jesus in Parthia, and has come back to a joyous welcome from the disciples in Jerusalem. But now they are drawing lots: in which part of the world will those disciples now go, to gather followers of Jesus. They draw lots. The one place that Thomas does not want to go to is India.. too distant... too many languages, the widespread and fairly tolerant ancient religion there for many centuries, the climate! No. But that is the straw he draws. It is impossible. How can he prepared himself? Learn a local language? The story then shifts to a low-born Tamil from South India. He finds himself finally in Caesarea, and in the presence of a tall Jew, Thomas. Betty is great with his simple, compelling prose, enabling the reader to see and feel what is going on in the relationship between Thomas and Kumaran, the final bewildering arrival in the land of the Tamils. In spite of their closeness through times when Thomas has succeeded in gathering many followers of the Way, Kumuran never really allows Jesus to replace his own version of Hinduism. Amongst the many followers of Thomas one of the several wives of the local king. Thomas forms a close but not sexual relationship with her. Kumaran sees them together and lets the king know. Eventually Thomas is being executed by fire, the queen committing suicide. Just before he dies Thomas begs the treacherous Kumaran to deliver his writings to the hands of a local Christian leader.. which Kumaran does.

Note: The Mar Thoma Syrian Church or Mar Thoma Church is a Christian denomination based in the state of Kerala, India. Its members are part of the one of the Saint Thomas Christian community, which traces its origins to the missionary activity of Thomas the Apostle in the 1st century. Whether or not Thomas actually went to India, Stafford Betty's story is so vividly told, as to be real, for the reader.

The Paranormal - is Normal
Alastair Bruce Scott-Hill
Reviews by  Michael Tymn, Robert McLuhan and Michael Cocks:
Michael Tymn

“Because Science can’t see, identify, or find God in a microscope or telescope, many people rationalize that there is nothing more, after this material life - that there is no such thing as a soul that survives death in a spiritual world. Alastair (Bruce) Scott-Hill was of that mind-set until he began exploring scientifically areas outside the boundaries of mainstream science, territory beyond discernment with any man-made instrument.  His explorations took him over some very rough terrain and through murky waters, territory in which only the most resolute survive.  The few who do survive usually struggle to explain their findings in language that most can comprehend.  But Scott-Hill, with skills honed in a 35-year career as a professional communication engineer and information technology systems designer, is able to translate the seemingly complex, into a relatively simple system.  He tells of finding an afterlife - the survival of consciousness after death - supported by quantum physics and with scientific evidence founded in reincarnation research, mediumship, out-of-body experiences, and other paranormal phenomena. Where science generally offers only despair, Scott-Hill offers hope that goes beyond the blind faith of orthodox religion and into providing true afterlife validation and belief for us all.”   Michael Tymn, Editor, The Journal for Spiritual and Consciousness Studies

Mike Tymn, a 1958 graduate of the School of Journalism (B.A. Public Relations) at San Jose State University, is considered one of the world’s foremost living experts on evidential afterlife studies. In particular in the provision of an unparalleled coverage of evidence concerning mediumship over a very large historical time period in his six published books to date. A number of these are bestsellers. He has contributed more than 1,600 articles to some 40 newspapers, magazines, journals, together with his six afterlife books over the past 60 years. He won the 1999 Robert H. Ashby Memorial Award given by The Academy of Religion and Psychical Research for his essay on “Dying, Death, and After Death.

A few days after his death.........

C.S. Lewis "appears" to J.B. Phillips

[Picture of Lewis to the right...]

Most of us who believe in what is technically known as the Communion of the Saints, must have experienced the nearness, for a fairly short time, of those whom we love who have died. This has certainly happened to me several times. But the late C.S. Lewis, whom I did not know very well, and had only seen in the flesh once, but with whom I had corresponded a fair amount, gave me an unusual experience.   A few days after his death, while I was watching television, he “appeared” sitting in a chair within a few feet of me, and spoke a few words which were particularly relevant to the difficult circumstances through which I was passing. He was ruddier in complexion than ever, grinning all over his face and, as the old-fashioned saying has it, positively glowing with health. The interesting thing to me was that I had not been thinking of him at all. I was neither alarmed nor surprised, nor, to satisfy the Bishop of Woolwich, did I look up to see the hole in the ceiling he might have made on arrival.  He was just there- “large as life and twice as natural”!   A week later, when I was in bed reading before going to sleep, he appeared again, even more radiant than before, and  repeated to me the same message, which was very important to me at the time. I was a little puzzled by this, and I mentioned it to a certain saintly bishop who was then living in retirement here in Dorset. His reply was, My dear J..., this sort of thing is happening all the time”.

Fritjof Capra   A new conception of life

When we look at the world around us, we find that we are not thrown into chaos and randomness but are part of a great order, a grand symphony of life. Every molecule in our body was once a part of previous bodies - living or nonliving - and will be a part of future bodies.

I was trained as a physicist and spent twenty years, from 1965-85, doing research in theoretical high energy physics at several European and American universities. From my early student years, I was fascinated by the dramatic changes of concepts and ideas that occurred in physics during the first three decades of the twentieth century. In my first book, The Tao of Physics (Capra, 1975), I discussed the profound change in our worldview that was brought about by the conceptual revolution in physics - a change from the mechanistic worldview of Descartes and Newton to a holistic and ecological view.   Read the whole article in Green Medinfo

Short animated video summarizing why the fundamental nature of the cosmos is consciousness. The fact we are aware is one thing we know for sure. We couldn't have an experience without being aware. Yet, despite appearances, our experience of the world is only the brain's reconstruction of what is "out there."

The current scientific worldview assumes that the brain not only generates the picture of the world that we experience, but it also creates awareness itself. An alternative assumption is that awareness goes all the way down the evolutionary tree. This leads to the conclusion that the cosmos is a vast field of information that is also aware—a field of knowing knowing itself.

Near Death Experiences studied at Massey University in Palmerston North NZ.

Who wouldn’t be fascinated by tales of people crossing over to the other side and coming back to tell the tale? Near-death experiences, or NDEs, have been reported throughout history and across the world and while they have been studied widely overseas, only a small amount of research has been done in this country.

But that changed nearly five years ago when two academics from Massey University in Palmerston North undertook our first large-scale, retrospective and quantitative study, seeking, in part, to find out whether our NDEs matched those reported elsewhere.

In 2010 psychologist Dr Natasha Tassell-Matamua and sociologist Dr Mary Murray put out a call for participants and received more than 600 responses. They published some of their findings this year and continue to work through the more than 200 accounts they recorded.   NZ Near Death Experiences        [ [Archives of Radio New Zealand]

‘A human being is a part of a whole, called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest … a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.‘ ( Albert Einstein)

"Neither was it intended that the two worlds, ours [the afterlife] and yours [the earth plane], should be as they are now—so far apart in thought and contact. The day will assuredly come when our two worlds will be closely interrelated, when communication between the two will be a commonplace of life, and then the great wealth of resources of the spirit world will be open to the earth world, to draw upon for the benefit of the whole human race.
Today, we are seeing the dawning of the day when
afterlife communication will be commonplace."

 Limits of Mind

Bruce Harold Lipton is an American developmental biologist best known for promoting the idea that genes and DNA can be manipulated by a person's beliefs. And Rupert Sheldrake is known for work on various thesis about everything having a inherit collective memory from all previous things. Sort of something like an Akashic Record. Here they discuss biology, science, placebo effect, power of the mind and much more. A very interesting and entertaining conversation. Enjoy!

When Alzheimer’s Victims Suddenly ‘Perk Up’ Just Before Death — What’s Going On?

An elderly woman never speaks, no longer recognizes her loved ones when they come to visit, and shows no expression. By the looks of her, she is a human vegetable. And she’s been this way for over a year. Her brain’s cerebral cortex and hippocampus — necessary for memory, thought, language, and normal consciousness — are severely shrunk. Her brain bears little resemblance to a healthy one.

Yet something utterly astonishing is about to happen. As reported by both the nursing staff of her care unit and her family members: “Unexpectedly, she calls her daughter and thanks her for everything. She has a phone conversation with her grandchildren, exchanges kindness and warmth. She says farewell and shortly thereafter dies.”  Read on....    [Huffington Post]

Many years ago there was an unpublished  version of this book, for which   an introduction was written by Mary Rose. former Professor of Philosophy, at Goucher College Baltimore, and President  of the Academy of Spirituality and Consciousness Studies, She began by noting that she and I had been corresponding about synchronicity for ten years. Her preface is an inspiring and helpful review. I much regret  that it was not included in the present book.
